Accessible Into It!

Accessible Into It!  is a newly designed animal sculpture, a bat, which would accommodate the physical needs of the multiple-disabled in order to engage. The bat’s metal skeletal frame is adjustable to accommodate most sizes of wheelchair. Different sensors and adaptable buttons were employed for alternative interactive play. Touch video screens, attached to an adjustable arm that can be positioned for different head postures and focal lengths, were selected for use so that teachers or attendants could intervene or assist in the play if the disabled user was having difficulty. The content consists of animated bat worlds the player flies through. If a special bug passes by and the player “catches it” a pop-up vignette provides information on bats.
